Carbon Makeover: Beans planted for Slow Food Market

Beans

On 24th July, sixteen of Knowle West's finest gardeners came out in force to plant Dwarf French beans in preparation for the Carbon Makeover Slow Food market. The Slow Food market will be held on Sunday September 14th at Knowle West Media Centre, and is a chance for us to celebrate our diverse heritage of regional food and drink, and highlight the environmental issues associated with food.

The beans will be grown in the polytunnel at The Park by Green Footprints until they are ready to be planted out, when they will be transferred to the gardens of Carbon Makeover participants until they’re ready to harvest for the Slow Food market.

Local residents are invited to sell their own produce at the market, such as fruit and veg grown at home or on the allotment, and homemade bread, cakes or chutneys.
